The Bermuda Triangle: The World’s Best Party?

The Bermuda Triangle, or Devil’s Triangle, is an infamous mystery that has been captivating the world for centuries. It is an area of the Atlantic Ocean that forms a triangle between Florida, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico that is still leaving scientists dumbfounded. Aircraft, boats, and enormous ships have all gone missing in a matter of minutes. They say if you pass through the triangle, you never come back. This stretch of water covers an area of 440,000 miles and has claimed the lives of more than one thousand lives in the last five centuries alone. But is the Bermuda Triangle really just the best party ever and no one returns because it’s so fun? Honestly, probably not.

There have been dozens of recorded incidents in which 10-ton airplanes and their pilots, or enormous military vessels and their crew, have just vanished, while they were passing through or over the Triangle. Dozens of yachts and multiple air crafts seem to evaporate into thin air there…every single year. The most curious aspect of all is that none of the debris, not even a small piece of a propeller, have been discovered after the disappearance.

Scientists have attempted to explain these disappearances, but none can say for sure. One of the most plausible theories is that of the methane hydrates. It is possible that there is a form of natural gas, known as methane hydrates, that can bubble up from the sea floor, capable of sinking a massive ship in a very little amount of time. It does indeed ease the mystery of the ships’ disappearances…but not the airplanes. As for myself, the only logical thing I can think of could be intense weather conditions. Perhaps this is just the most unstable and violent area in the world for man to travel. It’s could also be an enormous evil creature, sort of like that Greek myth of the Charybdis and Scylla; a pair of giant sea monsters that devoured ships and sailors whole. However, it later turned out that the supposed Greek monsters were just a whirlpool in the Strait of Messina.

Crazy theories pop up all the time, almost as unlikely as the next. There are people that believe it is home to aliens and their high-tech space crafts. People who believe it is the location of the lost city of Atlantis, whose energy crystals destroy anything that finds itself in their path. Many also believe that there is a sort of ‘electronic fog’, so to speak, that induces powerful and peculiar circumstances. Maybe the Bermuda Triangle hosts a black hole that can suck anyone into another dimension, universe, or another period of time. Maybe all these missing people will turn up in the Sahara Desert in 100 years, confused and insist that no time has passed. Maybe we will never know.
